Walter Pullen's Homepage
Who am I? Welcome to my homepage! :-) This started as an "about the
author" page for the Astrolog homepage.
Here I show various details about myself and things I've done, with a focus on
that which may be found elsewhere on the Net. In other words, much of this is a
catalog of the pages one would find if they enter my name into an internet
search engine. Anyway, below are
some of my interests:
Astrology
I'm an astrologer. If you came here from the Astrolog homepage,
that much should be obvious. :-) I'm probably best known in the
astrology world for creating the freeware astrology program Astrolog 5.40.
I also do interpretations, although I don't do readings for people
as often as I used to once I started really working with the program.
- My natal chart: I was born November 19th,
1971 at 11:01am PST in Seattle, WA
(122W20, 47N36). That makes me a Scorpio with a Sagittarius Moon and Capricorn
rising, and a Pig
in the Chinese Zodiac.
- Etheric planets:
I have an interest in esoteric astrology, and beyond that, metaphysics
in general. This is something I once wrote up about hypothetical
or etheric planets in our solar system, and the spiritual
planes surrounding us. A diagram that accompanied this article
when it was printed in volume IV of AstroMind magazine can be seen here.
- Sign interpretations:
Here are some thoughts on what the twelve signs of the zodiac
mean, and their opportunities and lessons.
- Lightbulb jokes:
How many Capricorns does it take to change a lightbulb? I co-authored this page
containing lightbulb jokes for the twelve zodiac signs.
- Rune images: I'm
interested in other forms of divination in addition to astrology.
I own and read Tarot
cards, and to a lesser extent Runes.
Here's an image of the 25 runes I once posted. This picture, like
the crop circles one below, has a top and left border but not
bottom and right, since it's meant to be used as a desktop background
mosaic.
- Dreamspell: The
Dreamspell (or: The Journey of Timeship Earth 2013) was created
by Jose Arguelles and is based on the Mayan spiritual calendar.
In 1993 I wrote a DOS program that converts normal Gregorian calendar
dates into Dreamspell dates and displays information about them (in other words
it duplicates the contents of the Dreamspell kit) which may be downloaded here.
Spirituality
We are spiritual beings having a physical experience, not the
other way around! Life is for growing, learning, expressing ourselves,
being ourselves, realizing our oneness with everyone, and experiencing
the love that exists everywhere. :-) Great newsgroups I used to
post to a fair amount, i.e. where I published some of the items
below, are talk.religion.newage
and alt.astrology.
- The Astara homepage:
This spiritual organization publishes a number of books and other
tools to assist in personal growth. I've been a member since 1990, where a bitmap I made of their logo may be
seen here.
- Egypt trip: In
1997 I went on a two week tour to Egypt organized by Astara, where I got
to visit the Pyramids and all. A picture of me inside the Queen's
Chamber of the Great Pyramid may be seen here.
- Ireland trip: In May 2004 I went to
Ireland for a week and a half for the 11:11 6th Gate Activation Master Cylinder.
- India trip: In October 2004 I went to
India for two weeks for the 11:11 7th Gate Activation Master Cylinder. My
description and experience of the 7th Gate can be read here.
-
Spain trip: In February 2007 I went to
Spain for a week and a half for the 11:11 8th Gate Activation Master Cylinder.
-
Spiritual quote file:
I collect spiritual quotes and have put together a collection
of 231 sayings in this file. If I were going to describe
my philosophy, these quotes taken together would do a reasonable
job of covering it. There's a couple I came up with myself in
there too.
- Spiritual haiku: A small selection
of Haiku poems I've written.
- Centers of consciousness list:
My thoughts on seven centers of consciousness we go through on
our journey from when we first enter the human kingdom from animals,
fairies, or whatever, to when we ascend from it and become Masters,
Angels, etc.
- UFO ship images:
I believe Earth is not alone in the universe and we are regularly
visited by beings from other worlds. I also believe these beings
(including the ones known as
Zeta Reticulans
or Greys) are friendly and here to assist our planet through its
collective adolescence. One of the most common visitors are the
Pleiadians.
The next time one of their beamships lands in your backyard, don't
just stare at it wonderingly, but use this UFO ship file I put
together to identify it, and start up an intelligent conversation
with them. :-)
-
Extraterrestrial interactions:
If the Greys are nice, then why are they abducting us? Here's
an article on the various ways our respective societies are helping
and learning from each other.
- Good vs. evil
extraterrestrials: Philosophical insights into the concept of
"good" and "evil" extraterrestrials, warfare between solar
systems, and whether Earth is at any risk of being invaded or whatever.
Transcribed from a channeling of Bashar.
-
Extraterrestrial races:
So who are these guys anyway? A description of some of the main
races dealing with Earth, from the book "UFO Contact from
the Pleiades", by Wendelle Stevens. (I transcribed and posted
this article to Usenet back in 1992; I didn't expect it to be
later put on the Web, but since someone did, which I certainly
don't mind, I might as well include a link to it. :-)
- Crop circles:
Here's a small bitmap I made showing a few patterns. Many crop
circles are created by extraterrestrial beings. Although there
are quite a few hoaxes out there, as there are with UFO sightings,
there are many legitimate ones too.
- Pentagram: I
created and posted this image of a pentagram to alt.pagan
a number of years ago. The pentagram is a pagan
symbol which to me at least represents the higher mind (top point)
achieving mastery of the four elements (other points) through
spiritual growth.
- Maypole dance: May Day or
Beltane is (along with Halloween or Samhain) my favorite day in the wheel of the
year. This animated GIF shows the weaving done during a Maypole dance. It can be
seen in the Fremont Arts Council's May Day event page
here.
Graphics
I graduated from the University of Washington
in 1992, with a B.S. in Computer Science.
Like many people, I'm interested in computer graphics.
- Stonehenge:
This is a picture I did for a class assignment in the graphics
class CSE 457. The image is Phong shaded with two colored light
sources. It's not perfect, e.g. the patches don't mesh smoothly
on a couple of the standing stones (and it also looks better in
24 bit color but this image is converted to a 256 color palette)
but I got a 3.9 in the class anyway. :-)
- Geometric shapes:
I created this image for fun during college one summer with a custom program, in the object oriented language
Smalltalk-80. The definitions
for the shapes were laid out, where this image is really a snapshot
of an animation where all the shapes were rotating at once.
The top five shapes are the five Platonic Solids. The rest excluding
the two rhombus sided ones are most of the Archimedian Polyhedra.
Note the truncated icosahedron is the same pattern as is on a
soccer ball.
Games
I've had the adventure of playing many of the most popular and fun computer
games that have come out. Although games tend to focus on experiences as opposed
to being creative, here are still some things I've put together in relation to them.
- EverQuest:
A screenshot I took which made the screenshot of the day on EQVault.
Other pictures of my characters may be seen here
and here.
- Heroes
of Might and Magic III: I created a map with a theme based on the
elements. A review may be read here.
-
Age
of Empires: I created a campaign called "Minoan Adventures",
containing six scenarios, including one where you play Theseus and have to
slay the Minotaur.
- Stars!:
Turned based galactic empire building. I put together a list of and
strategies for using the secret Mystery Trader ship parts. Also a guide on
picking lesser racial traits may be read here.
- DOOM: As can be expected from a Scorpio, I know where all the secret
areas are, and helped write the secrets list in The DOOM FAQ.
- Netrek:
In college this was my first multiplayer game, standing for Network Star
Trek. I helped contribute to the list of Netrek definitions of questionable
tactics.
- NetHack:
One of the most fun and extensive D&D games, even though it's pure text.
I wrote the Nethack Purity Test.
Other
When not hacking away at the computer, I enjoy hiking and climbing mountains.
The most difficult peak I've reached the top of is probably Mt. Rainier.
In 1996 I ascended Mt. Whitney,
the highest mountain in the continental United States. More pictures
of me hiking may be seen here, here, and
here.
In music, I appreciate the work of the ever etheric Enya,
the ever eloquent Loreena McKennit,
the ever exhilarating Alanis Morissette,
the ever energetic Belinda Carlisle,
and last but certainly not least, the ever eclectic David Bowie.
-
Greece trip: In August 2007 my wife Jessica and
I went to Greece for two and a half weeks to celebrate our honeymoon. :-)
-
Survivor: My interest in the TV show Survivor has its own subpage.
- Mazes & Labyrinths: My Maze and Labyrinth interest has its own subpages.
Think Labyrinth!
